The Republican National Convention

Sure, as liberal media types will tell you, we’d rather be watching “black people drown” *, but the convention has had some highly worthwhile moments. I saw Ann Romney’s speech, and found her pretty impressive (“Mitt will not fail” – unlike, you know, that other guy). I didn’t catch Artur Davis’ speech, but I read the selections from his text posted at Hot Air; powerful stuff that is almost overwhelming in its sheer reasonableness. I particularly liked this line: “Maybe we should have known that night in Denver that things that begin with plywood Greek columns and artificial smoke typically don’t end well”.

And I’m in love with Mia!

*The source of this comment - David Challian, Washington Bureau Chief for Yahoo! News – has reportedly been fired. As John Nolte says at the linked post, “The media cannot be reasoned with nor can a peace be brokered.”

Amen, brother. As I’ve said before, the mainstream media aren’t just in the tank for Obama; they are the tank.

Yes, Artur Davis's speech was the best of the night, IMO. Of course, most of the network coverage assidiously avoided showing Davis and the other conservative minority speakers. Doesn't fit the narrative, after all.

I thought Ann Romney gave the second best speech, and Krispy Kreme was a distant third. I'm not a big fan of Romney, but if he does what his wife promised, I'll feel a little better about voting for him. With the added bonus of getting rid of the Clown.

I read the text of Ann Romney's speech and truth be told, my eyes welled up a bit. While not quite (haha) as monetarily successful as the Romneys, my & my husband's family histories map nicely onto theirs. It's conceivable that Romney could *begin* to undo the damage that's been done by progressives over the last... 200+ years. (I despise A. Hamilton.)

That said, I'll not be voting for Romney. I'm not drinking the cool aide about Ryan being a Randian-Tea Party-Libertarian leaning guy. I don't want a President to "care" about me. I want one who is true to his oath. To be true to an oath, one needs to have thought just a bit about truth & fidelity. Ann's speech hinted that these were dinner table topics. So
I sure do hope they win.

In Mississippi, I can vote Libertarian in good conscience.

*If* Romney wins, I think we can take a quick breath. And then get back to work-- there'll be more to do.

Sorry, but at this point, a vote for anybody but Romney is a vote for Obama. I don't expect a miraculous turnaround from the Romney-Ryan ticket either (just think of the bureaucratic sludge they're going to have to wade through), but at least it's one step in the right direction. And if they don't perform, we'll toss their butts out too.

Oh, and by the way, I think we're looking at a future president in Mia Love.

No wonder so many of them tilt their reporting in favor of the Palestinian Arabs. It's like calling to like.

Rebecca is correct; if you want to be rid of Obama vote for Romney/Ryan. Otherwise, you will have no basis for complaining when Obie and his consiglieri turn the country into Greece over the next four years.

I've sometimes been tempted to put a sticker on my car saying: Don't blame me, I voted for Sarah. If the Dems get another four years to ruin the country, it will not be because, in an excess of misplaced and naive cynicism, I voted for "Not that icky Romney/Ryan, the unperfectly libertarian cnadidates."

Late to see these comments but please appreciate that I live in Mississippi. There's no way Mississippi isn't going for Romney. There is a small but vocal Libertarian voice here that Mississippi Republicans need to hear. Remember that it took a lot of work to even get our Senator Cochran to denounce earmarks.

If I still lived in Ohio, you can bet your bottom dollar I'd be voting for R&R.
