President Barack Obama attended a fundraiser at Jay-Z's 40/40 Club in Manhattan that featured a champagne tower of 350 bottles worth $105,000 - more than twice the median household income of an American family.I’m kind of reminded of the scene in George Orwell’s Animal Farm, where the other animals are looking through the window of the farm house at Napoleon the Pig, partying with some of the local humans and preferred members of the pig class.
The tower of $300-a-bottle Armand de Brignac Brut Gold, known as 'Ace of Spades' because of its label, is a permanent fixture at the club.
Update: Oh, and what a class act this Jay-Z character is! (Hit the link and scroll down).
ReplyDeleteThat hundred grand is also more than the net worth of a significant chunk of the American populace, never mind the yearly income stat.
I think I heard a stat(could be wrong) that stated the average IRA is about $12,000.
Or, as Rush likes to call him....President Kardashian.
ReplyDeleteThat should give you some idea of the base that Obama is trying to appeal to.
