One of my favorite movies...because...well, Robert Duval! Also, that landscape is something I miss so much...
ReplyDeleteAn excellent movie, and an amazing shootout.

ReplyDeleteDeborah Leigh..."Open Range" is one of the best! Robert Duvall is outstanding in anything he does, but really shines in westerns. "Open Range" is up there with "Tombstone" and "Dances With Wolves" (especially the extended version). Unfortunatly, it was the Michael Jetter's last movie.
ReplyDeleteI have never seen the movie, but I definitely will now.
ReplyDeleteOne of the best things about modern Western movie revivals is they don't sugarcoat gunfights anymore.
Rebecca: Definitely carries the Paco rating of five stars.
ReplyDeleteI remember "Open Range" more for how the herd being (cough) trail-driven never at any time actually moved.
ReplyDeleteIn every scene it was in the same spot.
