Alex Karras, RIP

Alex Karras, one of the defensive war horses for the Detroit Lions in the 1960s, has died at age 77.

  3. I remember when that movie came out. Made for television, I believe.

    Karras and his wife, Susan Clark, also made a bio-pic about famed female athlete Babe Zaharias, as I recall.

  4. Deborah Leigh said... Alex brought many hours of enjoyment for so many. His legacy is secure, especially with Mongo. It is sad to note that his last years were spent with dementia. May he rest in peace.

  6. I remember he had a particular dislike for field goal kickers, especially the foreign soccer-style kickers. "I hate those guys", he said. "They come running onto the field saying 'I'm go-eeng to keek a touchdown, I'm go-eeng to keek a touchdown!'"
