Not to worry, Twinkie fans

You can still bootleg 'em from Canada (H/T: Captain Heinrichs).

  1. I'm confused.

Will Canadian retailers have to setup "American Days" in the junkfood section? What effect will this have on the fuit pie industry?

What will be the attitude of the American Customs staff?

Will the Strait of Juan de Fuca become an armed camp with cigarette boats dodging the Coast Guard in the dead of night?

Will pirates be boarding sailboats for illicit contraband?

Or will we be allowed to dwop the Twinkies in our car twunks and twundle over the border without incident?

    /Questions abound in Tucson

  2. The End Times are near. We live in a nation that votes Obama and mourns Twinkies.

  3. This mourner did not vote for Obama, thank you very much.

  5. But are they flavored with the salty tears of the Baker's Union?

  8. OK, I'm back on the INTERNET...

Yojimbo, I'm presently less than 10 miles south of the 49th Parallel, and you have inspired me.

There are bazillions of Canadians who shop in the US of A because prices are lower here. Malls all the way to Seattle exist because of this fact. One store in Burlington even had a sign noting the current US-Canadian exchange rate.

My thought is this: Canadians coming south to shop bring Twinkies, and use them as barter for goods and services.

Or....Paco Enterprises can set up exchange points at all major shopping centers, where Twinkies and other Hostess munchies are swapped for American cash. Or coupons redeemable at select stores ("select" = "owned by Paco Enterprises).

Should be legal until Congress passes a law against it.

  10. You mean J. P. hasn't leaped onto this opportunity already? I fear he is slowing down, losing his edge.

  11. Deborah Leigh said...Jeff, that's brilliant! Of course, not all goodies should have the same worth..It seems that Twinkies are gold.

Paco, how about a movie set in a apocalyptic time when a battle rages to wrest the currency of the day from an oppressive tribe?:
