Watch California

Watch it closely. In my opinion, it will be the first state to implode from the burden of taxation, regulation, spending and public union greed. You are looking at the very model of the future collapse of the U.S. economy, the portent of things to come.

  1. Joy. People will flee California even more, and they'll come up to Washington again.

  2. That's what my brother and his wife and one daughter did, Jeff.
His other daughter is still in LA, and is pretty deep in the entertainment biz, so she may not make it out.

Why is stupidity in government so popular with voters? Do they look at themselves, and think it a virtue?

  3. Location, location, location:

Small town, in the hills, with only 2 roads in and out, both of which which pass through easily defensible passes.

    It's called "going hedgehog".

  4. I have elderly cousins in California. They can't afford to stay, and they can't afford to leave.

As California goes, so goes the nation.

  5. I hear ya, mojo.

r-man, so long as they leave the crazy back in California, I'm golden. But that's why western Washington is occupied by communist hordes. Western Oregon as well, for that matter.

Rebecca -- bad news, all around.

  6. They're sane, Jeff.

Which is why they wanted out.

  7. Unrelated, but curious.

The stock markets are down, a bunch, the last two days. How can that be, considering the future best President ever was just reelected? I was sure my investments would double in value the next few months!

    Obummer.

  8. Deborah Leigh said...The "moonbeamers" fell for their leader Jerry "Moonbeam" Brown's lie about Prop 30 being for the schools and against the "rich", so we'll all be feeling the effects of that very soon. The "moonbeamers" will be gob smacked that their taxes have gone up too. California is sinking into the ocean, but it isn't the Pacific.

To paraphrase a great man, David Crockett on leaving for the fight at the Alamo, "Y'all can go to hell. I'm going to Texas".

To all citizens of Paco nation, y'all have an open invitation to our place in Texas! Guns and ammo, welcome! And of course, meade.

  9. I'd laugh at California's predicament, except that a) we'll all of us heading for that same cliff and b) even if only CA goes down the drain it will drag the rest of us down as well.

For the first time in my life I feel like an alien in my own country. My fellow citizens have turned their backs on everything I was brought up to believe this nation stands for, and have enthusiastically forged their own chains.

  10. Amen to that, Steve. As Wodehouse said, in quite a different context, I feel like "a wet cat in a strange backyard".

  12. We must resist a bailout of California by the rest of the union, which the Dems will certainly demand. Let Cal sink as a dreadful warning to the rest of the dimwits. It will be like Greece.

It's not actually likely that the dimwits will actually learn anything from the ali implosion. However, it will give we conservatives the chance to say, in unmistakble terms at the top of our lungs:
    WE TOLD YOU SO STUPID.
