One of the best TV program musical themes of all time: Peter Gunn.

Must be getting old. I prefer the original.
ReplyDeleteI remember the original, but I gotta go with the Blues Brothers version
ReplyDeleteMikael! How you doing? Haven't heard from you in a long while.
ReplyDeleteThe Blues Brothers version does have the advantage of trombone and mute trumpet solos.

ReplyDeleteI've heard that when Emerson Lake and Palmer were seeking Mancini's permission to publish their rendition of the song they sent him a demo, his response was that was they way he intended the song to sound. True or not, I don't know.

Impossible that Mancini intended that. His stuff was too tightly written to allow ........that.
ReplyDeleteThe rest of his opus ain't bad, either; Moon River leads that parade.
Dad: I agree. He might have said it to ELP, but he couldn't have meant it.
