I didn't know that!

25 facts about some of the more popular Christmas movies.

One of my favorites: "Most people didn’t realize that Edmund Gwenn, Santa Claus in the movie [Miracle on 34th Street], also played Santa Claus during the real 1946 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. He even played to the crowd from the marquee of Macy’s when the parade ended to open the 'official' Christmas shopping season."

Some interesting stuff there. Googling beyond, I see I missed Ernest Borgnine's death in july. What a career! Didn't know he even managed to be married to Katy Jurado for 4 very 'tempestuous'years.

Vale Ermes Effron Borgnino!

I likedthe one about It's a Wonderful Life being the subject of an FBI file because of the subversive topic of bankers. Who would ever think that bankers would be shown in a bad light?

Speaking of I didn't know thats.

I'm reading an alternative history of the Battle of Gettysburg. It mentions a General Abner Doubleday. I got to wondering and yup, it's the same guy. Turns out the supposed founder of baseball was a career soldier. He also patented the cable car railway in San Francisco. He also commanded an all African American regiment in Texas. Quite a guy.
