When I first read that story about the Shooter, I did wonder why he didn't have health care, since Mr. H still receives health care through the VA even after lo these many years. However, this free health care is not extended to dependants once the veteran leaves the service, but he still should have been able to purchase a federal health insurance plan (I don't understand why he would have been denied Blue Cross Blue Shield. They have the best federal plan around.
One thing rang true: his disability claim will be stuck in VA Limbo for years.
