Perspective

So, what do you call a bunch of people who, because of their youth and inexperience, tend to be poor decision makers and big insurance risks?

How about the basic material from which our armed forces are created?

Update: If you fly Virgin Atlantic, consider finding another airline: "Royal Navy girl who fought in Afghanistan told to cover up uniform on Virgin flight in case it offended other passengers".

  1. I would have liked to know the religion and ethnic background of that Heathrow security agent and the agents behind Virgin's desk.

  2. Yes Rebeccah, but also I think the Brits are probably, of all the Anglos, the most ambivalent about their warriors. They stoned Wellington in London - supporters of Napoleon who saw him as a liberator for the poor, I have read.

  3. I have read accounts of British soldiers who like to come to the US to train because the general public treats them well. One Brit was shocked then very moved when a stranger sent him and his group of visiting British soldiers drinks in a bar. He said it would never have happened in Britain.

  4. I think I read over on Instapundit that Brit Air won't allow you to board one of their planes in uniform.

  5. "There will alays be an England" Yeah, right. Not if the English have anything to say about it.

  6. I don't know about anyone else, but I'm getting really tired of this whole "someone might be offended" BS.

You're offended? So what. Deal with it!

  7. RebeccaH: The religion & ethnic background aren't in any doubt.
Recently I passed through Heathrow, all the security screening staff were on the offensively-bin-laden-looking side of "scruffily muslim" appearance.

The males that is, the females were all in scalp to toenail black drapes (embroidered with the security contractor logo).

I found it most offensive. They were exuding a palpable atmosphere of "don't even think of acting white & british".

  8. So now we have "Ruled Britannia"

When do we start singing "The Veiled Cliffs of Dover" or "I'll Be Seeing You in All the Old Familiar Souks"?
