Ah, the Reagan era. Great times.

ReplyDeleteHappy 4th, Paco.
Happy Fourth of July!
ReplyDeleteHave a great July 4th!
ReplyDeleteHappy 4th, Paco, to your family and to all our friends here.
ReplyDeleteHappy Fourth to all.
ReplyDeleteAm I the only one who thinks those Presidential Heroes thingies are somewhat bizarre?
Altho, Clinton with his fly open and a nubile young woman clinging to his leg was easily the most realistic.
R-man: I think the bizarreness is intentional.
ReplyDeleteDeborah ...Happy Independence Day to everyone!
ReplyDeletePatrick Henry's sentiments are awe inspiring and timeless. It seems possible to hear him. It evoked in me the same emotions as reading the Declaration of Independence!
God bless America! May we always have the character, bravery, resolve, and God's support to keep our freedom, for to not do so, we would betray them.
Just a slight change:
ReplyDeleteAnd judging by the past, I wish to know what there has been in the conduct of the Obama Administration for the last four years to justify those hopes with which gentlemen have been pleased to solace themselves and the House. Is it that insidious smile with which our petition has been lately received?
Trust it not, sir; it will prove a snare to your feet.
Thanks, Paco, for introducing me the Patrick Henry speech. As a Brit, I wasn't aware of it ... boy, as an (amateur) student of rhetoric, I can attest that this is a humdinger.
ReplyDeleteSir, we are not weak if we make a proper use of those means which the God of nature hath placed in our power.
Wow, just, like, Wow! (To employ contemporary teenage vernacular). That speech was, like, total in its awesomeness.
ReplyDeleteSeriously, I rate it with Pericles funeral speech http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pericles'_Funeral_Oration
I hope you and your family have a great day! May our countires remain friends forever.
