ObamaCare is bad enough

But having it policed by the IRS is an idea that is completely incompatible with privacy rights and good government. It’s time for a line in the sand on this issue.

More on the general theme of government intrusiveness from Jeff Goldstein, who claims (correctly, in my view) that we now live in dragnet nation.

I've given it a lot of thought (health care policed by IRS) and I do not think it is in my best interests to participate.

Which is the reason they aren't giving you a choice.

You do not understand. When I say that I do not feel that it is in my best interests to participate, I will not.

A line in the sand should have been drawn years ago. The wussification of this country is about complete. We are becoming as big a bunch of pansies as France. Maybe worse.

"Dragnet Nation" is a good description. Also of interest may be Glenn Reynolds' "Ham Sandwich Nation." Many criminal defense attorneys are furious at it and have viciously attacked Reynolds' basic premise, which strongly suggests that he's on target. I mean, if there's a population segment as ecstatic at excessive criminalization as bureaucrats and regulators, it'd be criminal defense lawyers.
