Mendacity as far as the eye can see

Mary McCarthy once famously said about Lillian Hellman, “Everything she writes is a lie, including ‘and’ and ‘the’”.

I think an increasingly large number of people are coming to the same conclusion about Obama’s utterances. I arrived at that point very early on, primarily due to my belief that modern American liberalism is a giant, unadulterated lie, and, since Obama has always certainly been an unapologetic proponent of that particular political fantasy, it follows that the volume of his lies would closely track the actual number of words that he speaks.

Now comes ominous news that Obama’s promise – “if you like your health plan, you can keep it” – is not off by “only” 12 or so million people (which would be bad enough), but possibly by as many as 93 million .

The whole thing is a catastrophe, and it matters not, at this stage, whether it stems from monumental incompetence, or whether it’s a Cloward-Piven move to destroy the system and drive everyone into a single-payer environment. It’s the biggest crap sandwich in our history, and it needs to go.

And here’s some free, unsolicited advice for Democrats: never mind patriotism; if you don’t at least start putting basic common sense in front of your blind loyalty to your little jug-eared tin god, you’re going down. Whether you’re kicked out by a swelling multitude of irate voters, or whether society simply collapses around your ears, you’re going down if you don’t stop playing Trilby to Obama’s Svengali.

”If you like your ham sandwich, you can keep it (subject to some minor changes in ingredients)”

Update: Wooooeee! What's that stank? Smells like FAIL!
The website launched on a Tuesday. Publicly, the government said there were 4.7 million unique visits in the first 24 hours. But at a meeting Wednesday morning, the war room notes say "six enrollments have occurred so far."

I've pondered that myself, Paco (that being the astonishing lack of self-preservation uncharacteristically being demonstrated by the Dems)AND the RINOs as well as a number of other people that I thought better of.

Unhappily, I can think of no other explanation except blackmail/extortion.

Sounds plausible to me.

You're right there in the devil's playground, Paco. What is the atmosphere like? Does anybody dare to say out loud that Dear Leader is a fraud?

I don't think that there will be a lot of people signing up for Obamacare or alternate insurance policies because, well, they can't afford it. If it comes down to a man buying gas to get back and forth to work or buying an insurance policy where his pregnancy will be covered, well, I think I can see where his priority will be.

It is probably difficult for people earning $170,000 plus per year on top of being millionnaires to understand, but most people don't have endless piles of cash to draw from. Our incomes have been shrinking since that SOB got elected, and there ain't any wiggle room left.

A lawyer at my agency (an immigrant from Ukraine, who experienced communism first hand) is ferociously anti-Obama. No surprise, there. But there are quite a few Republican and libertarian types here who know the score, and aren't shy about expressing their opinion, and even a significant number of erstwhile liberals who seem to be increasingly disenchanted with Barry.

The feed store where I buy feed asked me to fill out a check cashing card this week. I wanted to know why. I've been coming to the damn feed store for 30 plus years through three different owners, and I figured they ought to know me by NOW.

Even though they've been open through recessions before, this time it's different. "We've never had so many returned checks before, and these are from good customers!" they explained.

And people that are writing bad checks to get some feed for their animals are somehow going to be able to afford their insurance premiums doubling and tripling. I think not.

...the government said there were 4.7 million wasted visits in the first 24 hours.

There, fixed it.

Well, according to Drudge, those 4.7 million visits resulted in six people signing up for insurance.

Obama wanted Obamacare to be his legacy. He is living proof that you should be careful what you wish for.

Obama is a kamikaze commie.

Jug-ears presidency may go down in flames; but he's taking the U.S.A. down with him.

I'm a fed as well, but work for the Department of Breaking Things and Killing People. Even though we're under the management of a series of loathsome political hacks who'd sell, rape, or murder their mothers for advantage, most of us in the trenches are feeling betrayed by the political leadership and by the childish Obamaphone-worshipping fetishists who have brought us to this pass.

As for myself, I will be able to retire the end of next year and I only hope things hold together long enough for me to make it. After that I'm content to sit on my deck and pot zombies.

And I hope the rest of the world appreciates having to call China and Russia when the shit hits the fan. See how they fill the role of Global Policeman.

Yo, Steve! What's your take on the story of the Obama sacking of the officers? Is it a deliberate weakening of the armed forces, or did they deserve to be relieved of command?

"The Department of Breaking Things and Killing People."

There is one highly specialised and skilled department of that description of course, but it seems these days most of the other departments are wannabes in that field, Steve.
