The most popular child actor of them all has passed away at age 85.
Here's one of her dance scenes with the late, great Bill "Bojangles" Robinson.

"There are countless horrible things happening all over the world and horrible people prospering, but we must never allow them to disturb our equanimity or deflect us from our sacred duty to sabotage and annoy them whenever possible." -Auberon Waugh
I watched Shirley in 'since you went away' a few times lately and she was great in that too. She served her country well, after films.
ReplyDeleteWhat a life.
RIP, Shirley. Your movies on black and white TV in my grandmother's living room took care of many a boring Saturday.
ReplyDeleteDeborah.... Shirley is incomparable and classic. She was a class act on and off the screen.
ReplyDeleteMy Dad knew her in the heyday. Years later, she visited a Navy base where he was stationed. Shirley remembered her escourt. In fact, when she found out he was on the base, she requested him.
My sister and I loved to build a fort of chairs and blankets and watch Shirley. The tunes were stuck in our heads. We ate many a box of animal crackers. Good memories. Thank you, Shirley!
Deborah.... There is another sad passing...Richard Bull. Richard had a impressive resume, but most remember him as merchant Nels Olsen on Little House on the Prairie. He passed in February 3rd in Calabasas, California.
ReplyDeleteHe was a nice, friendly, approachable, non-pretentious man. He had lunch in the upstairs art gallery of the famous Farmers Market in Los Angeles, often accompanied by his wife Barbara (65years).
Rest in peace, Richard. God bless Barbara, his family and friends.
