I will always believe The Searchers was one of the best movie Westerns ever made. I was a child when I first saw it, and living in the area where it was made, so the landscape was familiar (and so were some of the Navajo words they used as a substitute for Comanche). What struck me most, though, was how much like a Remington painting so many of the set pieces were.
