ReplyDeleteMy first impression was that 1838 Paris was really dirty. Am I missing the point?
ReplyDeleteNo, but you're noticing artifacts of the photographic process. It's a seven minute exposure, using a light-tight box and a lens not designed for a camera; and then streaks from the developing process where buddy had to wipe the image plate with the various noxious solutions necessary to create the image.
ReplyDelete... and shadows.
