Jeff, by the time that cutie is old enough for her first gun, Paco will be too old & decrepit to shoot a gun, so he can just pass on one from his current collection.
And Rebecca, I bet your grandkids think you've been a great grandma, for a long time. Like when my niece called to tell me I was gonna be a great uncle. "What, you mean I've just been a so-so uncle until now?"
I'm thinking maybe I'll start her out on a pocket pistol, the Ruger LC9s. It's a striker-fired 9mm, very little recoil. And then maybe bump her up to the Bushmaster AR-Carbon, a very light-weight carbine in .223.

Nonsense, r-man! She'll be capable of handling a .22LR single shot in a couple of years. With adult supervision, of course.
