Antonin Scalia, RIP

The conservative rock of the Supreme Court has died at age 79.

  1. The Constitution has lost one of its most ardent defenders. We are poorer for his loss. Surely God has granted Justice Scalia a honored place in Heaven. Our condolences to his wife Maureen, and their children.

  2. Appointed by another man who respected the Constitution.

Scary times just got a lot more scary.

  3. The Democrats didn't even wait for the body to get cold before they started demanding Obama nominate a replacement. Vultures.

  4. Scary just became frightening. Obama can make an appointment because Congress is out of session.

Rebecca, the people of tolerance, compassion, yahdee yahdee, didn't wait til they started their nastiness. The comments were so vile. Nauseating.

It would be a recess appointment which lasts a max of two years; it ends when a new Senate is sworn in. In this case, the new Senate arrives in the first week or so of Jan 2017. And the recess has to be properly announced, having both the House and Senate out of town for a week may not meet the definition of a recess.

  6. Minicapt, two years is enough for the Progressives to cause considerable damage. It would be surprising if Obama did not pursue this because it would be another feather in his cap.
