Whip envy

Obama is preparing to visit with his dictator friends, the Castro brothers, in Cuba next week. An acquaintance of mine is going to be with the delegation. The daughter of a Cuban freedom fighter, she grew up, sadly, to be a Democrat. I was amused when she spoke of Obama's popularity in Cuba, and the fact that he is scheduled to give a speech which will be broadcast live, without government censorship.

Why would the communist government bother to censor his comments? He's the most radical, left-wing president in U.S. history, a man who hobnobbed with retired (but unrepentant) terrorists in his early career, and who makes cooing noises at entire terrorist states, now.

Two peas in a pod.

Obama's popularity in Cuba shouldn't be as surprising. There will be goods, services, and jobs. It might present more opportunities for easier escape.

Paco, your acquaintance's daughter proves that kid's don't always listen and learn from their parents. It also demonstrates the importance of teaching critical thinking. She's young...maybe she'll come around.

Deborah, Ahh yes, the Cuban dream: Make enough money to bye enough shark repellent for your entire family the day you you set sail on your homebuilt raft on course to Miami where most of you surviving family already live.

Deborah: Alas, she is not young. She's apparently the only Democrat in her family (rebellious kid, I suppose).

Mikael: It would be fitting if the only way my acquaintance could get back to the U.S. would be with an oar, aboard a 1948 Packard lashed to a pontoon made of of empty 55-gallon drums.
