Ted Cruz has suspended his presidential campaign after losing in Indiana.
A sad day for Cruz; a sadder day for the rest of us.
Update: A little positive spin from Roger Simon.

"There are countless horrible things happening all over the world and horrible people prospering, but we must never allow them to disturb our equanimity or deflect us from our sacred duty to sabotage and annoy them whenever possible." -Auberon Waugh
Overwhelming sadness. Anger, Disappointment, and puzzlement for American voters. Fear for our country's future.
ReplyDeleteIf America survives the coming nonsense, perhaps Ted will run again. Buyers Remorse should be evident by then.
As Mencken said, "Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard."
ReplyDelete... DonJon is a good Democrat.
Cheers
Stop and take a couple of deep breaths people. Trump has a better chance of defeating Shrillary than any of the others. Sorry, but Sen Cruz's Conservative campaign just did not resonate with the voting public this year, and Trump has brought millions of non-traditional voters to the GOP primaries.
ReplyDeleteOf course if you don't think that the "common people" are capable of making decisions about who governs them then you will be happy if Shrillary wins.
Would the party be better off if the nominee was the typical snoozer-loser who gives a gracious concession speech?
Obama will be gone, and Hillary most likely won't be President. I'm clinging to those two things. That said, I don't think Trump will be as bad as people think, because after all, how could he be worse than what we've had for the last eight years?

ReplyDeleteAs DonJohn has suggested, he is exceptional and can only exceed limits.
Cheers
My preferred candidate was Jindal. He still is, and I hope he will run next time and be successful.
ReplyDeleteAs for The Donald, he is a Democrat in all his instincts about policy. Asked to suggest how he would deal with some problem, he falls back on the Dems' conventional wisdom: Single-payer for example about Obamacare. So I would expect him to govern as a somewhat less leftist Dem. His talk about suing people who criticize him and using the same kind of Presidential ukazes that Obama has been using are very disturbing. He seems to have no more respect for the Constitution or law than Obama does.
I see two reasons to vote for Trump. The first is that it will be a poke in the eye to all those demonstrators trying to shut down his campaign by violence. The second is that the Dems will run Hillary. I am almost to the point of Anybody but Hillary.
