This article doesn't definitively settle the issue...

...but I admit I have always been puzzled by it: "Why Are Women’s Shirt Buttons on the Left?"

  1. Because they're the sinister sex.

  2. If they were the same as men's buttons, they would be backward to a man trying to undo them; and the man would get frustrated, and forget why he was undoing them.

  3. I prefer r-man's explanation. It's very patriarchal.

  4. Why, thank you, Jeff. I'm a very patriarchal kind of guy.

  5. Yeah, but Rebecca offers the most irrefutable reason.

  6. Because women's boobies are generally bigger on the left(right arm supporting the baby) and therefore need greater support?

  7. Maybe it's a reason to charge more for women's clothes. Or perhaps it's a case of (for) men are from Mars, women are from Venus.

There should only one side. But then who is excluded? We all know the answer. No need to worry, my patriarchal friends. Your buttons will stay where they are. You won't have to get in touch with your feminine side just yet.

  8. Wait till the Feds mandate buttons on only the left side to facilitate "Transgender" peoples' transition to the opposite gender.
