"There are countless horrible things happening all over the world and horrible people prospering, but we must never allow them to disturb our equanimity or deflect us from our sacred duty to sabotage and annoy them whenever possible." -Auberon Waugh
Amen. I'll never forget those firemen, for one thing.
ReplyDeleteAgain, this year, I have to watch all the specials and cry over them. I don't know if I'm just wallowing, or if it's real mourning that won't go away, but I honestly think it's real mourning that won't go away. And the anger is as fresh as ever.
ReplyDeleteSame here, Rebecca. The specials renew the feelings: stunned, sadness, empathy for the families of the missing and dead, anger, and pride in the responses. The firefighters and police have a special place because Richard's family has both. Richard's brother went into the tower twice. He survived but, of course lost many brothers. It is helpful, I have found, to forgo tissues in favor of a washcloth.
DeletePerhaps I missed it, but where was the commemoration the Benghazi attack. September 11, 2012.
