No surprise, there

Secession is a bad word, but only when used by conservatives: "Disgruntled Democrats Want A Constitutional Convention To Leave The Union".

Hey, there's already a flag they can use...

I thought we settled that argument in 1865. Once again, secession is an issue because Dems are upset over the election of a Republican President. At least this time they are treating their indignation mostly with crayons, puppies, and security blankets rather than rifles. So far. But some of their bile has slopped over into violence; progressives gotta act like brownshirted street thugs, it's in the political DNA of the left. Lefties think true democracy is done in the streets, not in elections with secret ballots.

The rioting and attacks on presumed Trump supporters put me in mind of a line from the Scottish song Bonnie Dundee. "Ere the King's crown go down there are crowns to be broke." If this violence in response to an election is allowed to spread and continue, the constitutional fabric of our polity, the crown so to speak, will go down. Meet lawless violence with lawful force.

Ironically, in view of the Jackass Party's whining about Hillary winning the "popular vote" making her more worthy of the presidency than the winner of the constitutionally mandated Electoral College electors, if California seceded it would take with it the entirety of Hillary's popular vote majority, leaving Trump the winner in both the EC and the popular vote.

I think it was David Horowitz who said that inside every liberal is a totalitarian screaming to get out.

Well, I think disgruntled conservatives want a constitutional convention to help liberals leave the Union.

This could work!

Hit your favorite search engine for "#CalExit".

If we can put up a wall, mine fields, and charge a tariff to enter the USA from Kalifornia, I say we let 'em secede.

What the Democrats are disgruntled about is that California didn't get to rule over the rest of the country. Anyway, they'll come around when they realize they can't get to Las Vegas without a passport.

Isn't California the land of Mexican "slave" labour too? The comparison with the Confederate South wanting to maintain its exploitative economic system and landed gentry elite is apt. Along with Hillary throwing a party to Thank Harvey Weinstein and her other rich donors, while Mr Trump thanks ordinary people across the nation.

At least the Confederates were prepared to fight and sacrifice themselves for their way of life, though. The Californian elite plan to pay others to defend them, starting with lawyers, their first line of defence.

Bruce: I hadn't actually considered the labor aspects of California's system, but you're right.
