Home again

Mrs. Paco and I drove down to North Carolina this weekend to visit my father, Old Paco, who is 89 and ailing. It was a good visit, and O.P., though very frail, was perfectly lucid and communicative. His biggest debility, in his opinion (and I tend to agree), is his blindness, which has been total for around five years. A pity in any circumstances, but doubly so, given the beautiful view from the front of his house:

Beautiful scenery! Thanks for sharing.

So sorry to hear about your Dad, Paco. Also, sorry that he can't see the beauty. He has never seen his great grand daughter, has he? Hopefully, he has heard Maggie, especially her laugh, and is taken outside to hear the beauty. God bless.

Most fields here are at least part patchy brown. That green field (or is it a crop?) made me think of a racetrack or golf course, so rare are they here in Orstrayliyah. Beeutiful. Can't see it, hopefully can smell it and hear it, the breeze across the spaces.

Sorry about your dad, Paco. But he still has his mind, and that's important.

Bruce: It's all grass, now; there's a man who comes and bails it for hay. But long ago, my father and his family picked cotton there. Old Paco always said he'd one day own that property and build a house up on the ridge - and, sure enough, he did.

Like Mrs. H said, he still has his mind. My dad lost his, it was rough. Although his story about Area 51 (the same one, over and over) was fun, and worth some research, although it didn't check out.

Later on, the stories involved working on Fat Man and the other atomic bomb, but he was born in 1935.

Then came the accusations against that wonderful woman who took care of him for 30 years, and I defended her, and boy that was a mistake.

Hi Paco

I'm JC from the Catallaxy blog. Marcus Classic, who has gone by several names in the past... aka MK50 and Mark L Canberra... is a big time plagiarist who has lifted numerous pieces then posted them at the Cat pretending they are his own.

I often remind him there about his unprofessional, uncultured and low life theft. For some unknown reason he's taken a real dislike to me. Hard to believe, hey, as I'm really a nice person.

Acting like a poor man's version of inspector Clouseau he's accusing me of being your JC here, which we learned from Classic, you recently banned from your blog. I do recall your name from the times you used to post interesting comments at Blair's, but I then I lost touch and only saw a reference to you and your blog in Classic's sad Clouseau impersonation.
Would you please be nice enough to distinguish the IP address I'm using from the other JC in order to correct any misapprehension.

Thanks Paco

PS. Marcus Classic is going absolutely hog wild over that at Catallaxy. He's finally flipping out. Funny as.

Also if you want to see his theft... here's an example

Thanks, Real JC. The JC from Catallaxy is quite obviously not the one who has been snarking in the comments section here.

Jonah: Old Paco has had some serious moments of non-lucidity, but they seem to have coincided with bouts of pneumonia.

I should say, rather, that, I have no present evidence that the two jc's are the same. I will look further into the matter. Paco

On Catallaxy here I'm 'one old bruce' because there are too many Bruces in Australia, who knew?

I've been following Catallaxy's Rafe Champion since before blogging was invented, around 2000 when he had a website of his writings. It was different world then.

My kids think I'm losing it already, they roll their eyes at every new revelation, 'Now what's the old guy on about?'
