Eventually, the driver found out, Rebecca. Either when someone pointed it out, or when the engine seized up (hopefully NOT at high speed).
I think that last one is what they call a 'shovel ready job'.Although I think I'd use a large end loader to fill in the hole. Otherwise, one or two of'em might have time to crawl out.
