Ominous

These signs are appearing with alarming frequency:

When I saw the words, "To an alligator, if it moves, it's food!", I stood stock still - until some older, slower folks drew near.

About five years ago I was in Jacksonville and went to get some wings. And by the water feature was a similar sign. I asked a shipmate "Is that a joke, or is it real?"

He pointed across the pond to the actual bigawd alligators sunning themselves.

Does NC have concealed carry? That would help even things out. I wouldn't want to bring a knife to an alligator fight.

After all, I'm not Crocodile Dundee!

NC does, indeed, provide for concealed carry. And I agree about the knife; I'm definitely not Tarzan.

Steve: Our first-ever house, in Miami, was located at the end of a canal. There was a little alligator, about three feet long, who would climb up on the bank and sun himself occasionally. We always thought of him as "our" alligator. All very cute, until the day I saw a picture in the Miami Herald of a much larger specimen climbing over a chain-link fence.

Still, the alligator was far less of a nuisance than the damned Muscovy ducks that sometimes congregated in the back yard. Nasty and ugly.

Muscovy ducks horror deja vu, all over again.

Just kidding. These guys seem a little pushy, but very friendly and polite.
One of them thinks he's a dog and wags his tail, a lot.

There was that family at Disneyworld couple years ago standing by a creek with small child. Just sayin.

Paco, think of it this way: the ducks won't eat Pacos and friends. By-the-way, is duck..uh..poo profitable?

Concealed carry? With an alligator I'd want nothing smaller than a .44 magnum. Hard to conceal, even in a shoulder holster.
