Friend and commenter Mike_W said the moon picture "reminds me of a painting I loved as a kid, showing a deer stag with its antlers silhouetted against a full moon." Interestingly enough, the setting reminded me of something similar. For my sixth birthday, my mother gave me a book about prehistoric animals which had beautiful color plates based on the paintings of the great Zdenek Burian (I still have the book; had it bound in leather). Here's the plate that came instantly to mind when I was looking at the moon the other night (it's an Irish Elk, now sadly extinct, being chased by dire wolves - also extinct):

A few months ago I was rewatching old episodes of Mission Impossible on Prime. And for the first time it occurred to me that, being filmed by an LA studio, every location had to be within a day's drive of LA. Which, given the astounding geographic diversity of CA, was generally not a problem.
However... there was one episode, starring Joe Don Baker, supposedly set in the Pacific Northwest. There was one long shot of a lumber company... okay, not at all unreasonable,. There was a sign on a building, something along the lines of "Pacific Northwest Lumber Company, Pacific Northwest, USA." And then the camera pulled back to reveal the skyline... dotted with the typical palm trees that the PNW is so well known for.
Yeah, if you look hard enough, you can find them hiding among the red woods.
The famous Finnish paleontologist Bjorn Kurten liked to call the"Irish Elk" a Shelk, which is a critter from some Northern myth. He did this on the grounds that it is neither Irish nor an elk (which in Europe means what we in the US of A call a moose).
Steve, reminds me of Saddam showing some ruins to Western reporters in 1991 that were labeled, in English, Baby Milk Factory, to show what atrocities American bombing was committing.
Although it lived throughout northern Europe and Asia, it very definitely also lived in Ireland. Perhaps the Irish were simply first to assert bragging rights (I suspect that would not be a first).
