Happy Labor Day!

We'll be attending a neighborhood barbecue (under my retirement strategy of "Let someone else do it").

I especially want to wish a great Labor day to the employees of Paco Enterprises, without whose efforts the vast Paco business empire would be unsustainable. Take an extra hour off today, guys!

"Thanks, boss!"

Update: A special shout-out to friend and commenter Rebecca, who's celebrating several important dates today, including her and her husband's 50th wedding anniversary.

Haw! Smoke 'em if you've got 'em.

Thanks, Boss. I have just enough time to attend a cookout celebrating second birthday of great-grandson, 21st birthday of Marine grandson, fifth anniversary of 2-year-old's parents, and 50th anniversary of yours truly and Mr. H. I think we can get through it. Maybe with time to spare.

(Whoever baked the 2-year-old's birthday cake wrote "Happy 2th Birthday, so possibly not a native.)

Rebecca: Just be back in time for roll-call.

Congratulations all around, Rebecca! Don't worry about the cake. The kid can't spell, and those that can probably won't notice after raising so many "glasses". May there be many, many more celebrations!

50th Anniversary!?! Y'all started really young, didn't ya. Ah, young love!

We've been using that retirement strategy since 2013. It works extremely well at neighborhood barbecues/ barbeques, but not in some other scenarios. It's not advisable for procrastinators.

Heartiest congratulations to Mr & Mrs H from my bride and me.
We old folk made some very wise decisions in our youth, did we not?

Thanks all for the kind comments. Yes, Mr. Skeeter, we did make wise decisions (or else we're just very, very stubborn).
