Still means something to me

Today is Citizenship Day and Constitution Day, a commemoration of two features of our society that are under attack by leftists throughout the country.

Thirty-five years ago, today, Mrs. Paco, originally a refugee from Chile (communist Chile, I hasten to point out) was sworn in as a citizen in a ceremony at the Orange Bowl in Miami, Florida. Vice President Bush gave a speech to a huge, enthusiastic crowd, and Mrs. Paco, who was holding our 3-year-old son (he was waving a small American flag), appeared very briefly in a video close-up shown on the national news that night (NBC, I think). Mrs. Paco has always been proud of becoming a citizen, and she has been true to her adopted country. She's a good American (even if, from time to time, she allows herself a wistful little fantasy of standing this or that politician up against a wall, in keeping with the practice of a good South American; but then, don't we all?)

What better way to celebrate both citizenship and the constitution than to link Kurt Schlichter's latest broadside:
The clownish antics of Tex Kennedy, that drunk driving furry and El Paso punchline, are much less funny now that he is promising to convert millions of Americans into felons and send armed government agents to their homes to steal their constitutionally-guaranteed property. Maybe he doesn’t know – whether due to pharmaceuticals or simply because he’s stupid – that two Democratic administrations ago, right up the road, the feds sent a bunch of armed men to take the forbidden guns of some people who were minding their own business and it turned out poorly.

Yes indeed, today is Constitution Day.

"Tex Kennedy" -- HAW! That's very fitting for that convicted felon.

And congratulations (again!) to Mrs. Paco -- we who are natural citizen often forget that there is a shadow across much of the world.

I love "Tex Kennedy"! To be clear, the moniker, not the guy.

Congratulations to Mrs. P for escaping the communists, their loss, our gain.

More so every day!

Yes Mrs bruce is from the south Americas too as I've said, and we married here 37 years ago. She used to look like the airport photographer in Dr No (the one who licked the flashbulb), which was partly filmed on her island of Trinidad. I used to have to hide the kitchen knives when she got angry, but we're past all that now, I think, haha.

M'yes...I should hope so, Bruce.

I worked in a restaurant long ago, and there were two employees - one a cook, one a waiter - who had previously been married but had divorced years before. The waiter was a jocular fellow who liked to tease people, and he must have gotten on his ex's nerves, because I recall walking into the kitchen and seeing her chasing him around the kitchen with a meat cleaver (she seemed genuinely angry, but he was laughing like mad). He easily outran her, and she eventually threw in the towel, but it was a sight to behold while it lasted.

It's usually about 'another woman'.
