The ghosts of Brunswick County

Long-time readers know that I like to take pictures of abandoned homes, warehouses, stores and other structures (meh, weird, but everybody needs a hobby). Here are a few lonely places located within a six or seven mile radius of my home (click to enlarge).

Not an abandoned building, but an abandoned neighborhood. Looks like the developers ran out of money once they built the entrance and paved a few streets. I didn't see a name for the place anywhere.

This house is relatively new-looking to be abandoned, but it has been empty since we moved to the area 1 1/2 years ago.

This building, located on state road 906 (which runs through a rural area), appears to have been some kind of professional building, maybe a dentist's or doctor's office. There were no markings, signs or clues. Whatever it was, it seems to have offered plenty of parking.

Those photos show some nice construction -- it's a pity they are just sitting there, abandoned.

Mayhaps the builders had more dollars than sense.

It's the opposite around here, my quiet neighborhood out in the corn fields is no more. They tore down Gary's two houses across the street and are putting 10 new ones in. There used to be as many horses and tractors as cars on this street. Oh well, great day at the range today.

Housing for the homeless, right there! Move them in and watch them flourish! Paco Enterprises, sign those government contracts.

'Arrested Development'? Model homes? Bluth Company.

Jonah: Not a bad idea, at all. I wonder why they don't do that sort of thing in places like San Francisco and Seattle? Move them off the streets into locations such as old warehouses and abandoned homes? I would think the non-fabulously-wealthy are getting pretty tired of tripping over the homeless outside of their stores and apartment buildings, not to mention having to dodge their...effluvium.
