The smell of delusion

And, I think, the smell of failure in the larval stage. The Dispatch, a "conservative [sic] media company" put together out of nothing by Jonah Goldberg, Steve Hayes and David French, actually anticipates charging money for its services. Let's see what we're talking about:
Visitors to the site can choose to read content for free initially or purchase a "Founders Membership" for $1,500, which provides a lifetime membership and other perks including "priority access to meet-ups, events, conference call with top staffers" and "access to robust members-only discussion room."

"Everything will remain free for the next few months. Early next year, we’ll begin charging $10 a month or $100 a year for membership," Hayes indicates in an email to new subscribers.
Hey, I'd love to have a lifetime membership, and that "robust members-only discussion room" sounds like crazy fun, but I'm going to have to pass. My money's currently tied up in the development of a perpetual motion machine, and when the cabbage starts rolling in from that, I'm thinking about buying a Packard dealership.

Fifteen hundred smackers? C'mon, man! You can buy several pistols, 2-3 shotguns, a couple of rifles, or a buttload of ammo with that much moolah. Or maybe some combination of the above.

Certainly the money would be better spent.

Oh, yeah, that kind of money would cover the top two or three firearms on my wish list, with dough left over for a holster and some ammo.

I think this outfit is going to be nothing but anti-Trump venting, and "plague-on-both-your-houses" equivocation.
