I'm wondering....

...maybe British royals shouldn't be permitted to marry Americans. The track record isn't looking great.

I have no love for kings and emperors. The success of a monarchy always depended on the monarch, and history demonstrates that was nearly always a coin toss as to the quality of the monarch.

These days, most royalty are pretentious progressive twits living on the taxes of hard working people. That's what we see with "The Sussexes".

Not so with Elizabeth Regina II -- while the British monarchy has been mostly ceremonial for a couple of centuries, she always takes her duties seriously. She is the head of state, after all.

So, if this happens, Her Majesty deserves wild applause for poking these narcissistic nattering nincompoops in the eye for their wanting to eat their cake.

"narcissistic nattering nincompoops"

Wonderful! Too bad Her Majesty didn't read your assessment before engaging in the sit-down.

I have always admired Elizabeth II for her steadfastness and devotion to duty (and the fact that she and my grandmother were dead ringers for each other). I hope she cuts Harry and Meghan loose for being anything but. They don't want the royal duties, so they don't deserve to keep the royal privileges. But when Charles takes over, I imagine that will probably signal the end of the British monarchy.

Media beatup I think.

Outside the direct heirs they can be independent, there are heaps of royals living all sorts of lives. As you know I could not stand Diana and I still think Markle is good for Harry (personally if not politically). All good, no probs. In fact this defuses the media circus, which was getting silly.

Anyone seen 'A Royal Night Out?' I loved it. Even if it's fiction I think it's very true to character, even Margaret 'P2', and the portrayal of Elizabeth as both feminine yet with an unusual inner strength I found very moving. It's supposed to be 'light' Rom-Com but I found it profound with its accurate seedy London of the time.

Does anyone remember what a maniac Margaret was in the 1960s? HM somehow keeps the show on the road but the fewer 'Royals' the media has to focus on now the better I think, celebrity culture is such a circus that maybe even HM (the Queen) needs a young American's input to deal with it. This isn't the 60s any more even, it's a cannibal orgy, best to keep a low profile unless you can't avoid it.
