The lovely and very talented Lena Horne, with an able assist from the Berry Brothers, performs “The Sping” (from the 1942 film, Panama Hattie).

"There are countless horrible things happening all over the world and horrible people prospering, but we must never allow them to disturb our equanimity or deflect us from our sacred duty to sabotage and annoy them whenever possible." -Auberon Waugh
Lena lights up the stage. Had to look up Lena singing the song Stormy Weather again after this. Then Adelaide Hall's original version, but I really like Lena's voice.
ReplyDelete(Google hates he word 'sping' - Did you mean spring? OK I'll show spring whatever you say...)
'The Sping' was written by Phil Moore who was a pianist and big band arranger, and famous dancer Jeni LeGon who choreographed it. Otherwise I'd never heard of it.
Very nice! I like the song and dance routines in the classic movies -- such performances are pretty rare in current productions.
ReplyDeleteYeah, they don't make 'em like that anymore. I'm not sure that they could even if they wanted to.
