Learning about guns

A lot of people are getting an education on gun laws and gun safety out there.
We tried to look at just who the new firearm purchasers were and we believe that more than 60% of these individuals were first time buyers. I can’t describe the amount of fear in my staff as we had the buyers show proof of safe handling as part of the purchase process as required by law. You have never seen so many barrels pointed at sales staff and other customers (Haw! - P]. It was truly frightening. We had to keep stopping the process to give quick safety lessons.

Those 'quick safety lessons' will translate into 'inadequate training from sales staff' when some fool of a new gun owner shoots themselves or somebody elese. Early Christmas for the legal profession.
Is training compulsory in any part of the US? Prior to actually handing over the cash and taking it home?

For buying guns? Not in Virginia or North Carolina, just to buy guns. To get a concealed carry permit (in both states), there's some intensive classwork and time at the range required.

It is in some states, although the "training" is ill defined and the certification process ... ... vague. Certainly that's true in Washington State, thanks to the anti-stupid voters.
