Maybe the killer asteroids will wipe out the murder hornets
The truly stupid thing about those scary headlines is that there are genuine threats all around us. The "If It Bleeds, It Leads!" mentality is numbing people to those potential problems, or directing their energies towards silly issues.

I think that this article is a good overview of this issue ... ... and why it's dangerous.
