Yes, that's a very complicated apple peeler. It's almost Rube Goldberg level. I expect it was marketed for local bakeries, cider makers, etc, as it's quite durable -- something that an entrepreneur out in the sticks would need.

Nice restoration job as well! I almost want it in my kitchen.

And, for $14 dollars, the price was right. Or, for $26 dollars more, you could have one that could be powered by an electric motor, or whatever other power source you could arrange at that time.

I wonder how many apples $14 would buy, back then?
