There's no need for a Stasi...

...when individuals, local governments and corporations can be cowed by social justice mobs into adhering to their ideological fanaticism and eliminating "enemies of the people": "Mexican-American Accused of Making ‘White Power’ Sign by Overzealous SJW Is Fired". In the first place, the whole notion of the OK sign being a secret white supremacist symbol is an example of a prank turning into a fact almost overnight (some wiseguys at 4Chan passed this business off as a true thing, when it was something they actually pulled out of thin air, just to see how many idiots would bite; lots and lots of idiots, apparently, did bite, and this utter falsehood has now become a fact with which to club the unsuspecting). In the second place, it appears that the poor truck driver was only hanging his arm out of the window, cracking his knuckles. This is only his word, of course, but I find it completely believable under the circumstances - certainly, at least, within benefit-of-the-doubt territory. So far, this is the dumbest thing I've read today, and I hope the truck driver sues his former employer for all he can get.

Holy crap! That was Olive Oyl's dad's line all though the Robin Williams Popeye.

(Sometimes odd memories just pop into my head.)

Yes, it's like watching the myth about lemmings become real.
