Incidentally, I was arrested briefly by the sheriff there and put in the lock-up; however, when he realized what my feed bill was likely to be, he let me go.

Most likely, Cowboy Paco, your offense was calling chili a kind of soup. If so, I heartily endorse Sheriff's deputy Maggie's arrest. And since the sheriff realized he might have to offer you "chili soup" during lockup, he couldn't countenance that according to the Code of the West. Well done, Deputy Maggie. Take grandpa Paco home and offer him some watery bean soup, and school him on the difference between chili and soup.

ReplyDeletePaco, how big of a herd did Miss Maggie pick on this trip? You know it can never be one. Maybe she put in a good word for you with the Sheriff, by which I mean how many horses you were getting for her.
