You mean, like George Washington?

That bow-tied blot on the conservative escutcheon, George Will, called President Trump and Senators Josh Hawley and Ted Cruz seditionists today, in that major organ of conservative opinion, The Washington Post (I refuse to link the article; you can take my word for it or look it up).

If only, is all I can say (actually, I'm feeling a little seditious, myself, these days). Anyhow, I salute these gentlemen for their courage. And if the Left ever does establish the kind of totalitarian government that Democrats secretly drool over, I hope Mr. Will is the first NeverTrumper executed.

Update  Friend and commenter Mike_W has come up with a name for the Resistance that I find strangely appealing: Patriots Against Commie Overlords.

  1. What gets me is that when I read that Trump and Hawley are 'seditionists', all I think is "I wish."

Especially reading Ace's page about China bragging, and our betters nodding along sagely, about forced sterilization of Uyghur slave girls in their slave camps.

  2. Haven't read The Crucible for ages, but at the end, isn't there a scramble of cowardly men yelling 'Burn the witch' worse than the original accusers, saving their own skins?

Meanwhile Washington DC has become like a medieval Rome Vatican, handing out indulgences and judging heretics - Our mistakes with China go way back but we turned a blind eye because they seemed to be going down the 'capitalist' path like us.

My ancestor Joseph Hume was a Radical liberal in the British parliament mid 1800s because he stood for free global trade to break the landed monopolies and bring cheap grain to the masses. But what looked good back then has a sting in the tail now in this crazy world. I don't think the 'authorities' in Washington have a clue, any more than the rest of us.

  3. Oh, I should add that while, as I say, I doubt the foreign affairs experts in the US govt have a clue, the wannabe witch-hunters sniffing out American heretics may set up a very tight well-funded operation, as you'd expect:

  4. Quisling Republicans are in for a rude awakening when their would-be masters take full power.

  5. I see the Vichy crowd is rushing to please their masters, with David French calling for the expulsion of Cruz and other Senators. In the same linked post, Ace mentions the desire of Leftists to "cleanse" the 75 million. Come and gitcha some, commies!

  7. The difference between here and now and 30s Germany is the 'despised' minority isn't so minor and the despising goes both ways.
    Oh, and all the guns.
Somehow I think it'll be harder to get us on the trains.
