A day that will live in infamy

Today is the 80th anniversary of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. God rest the souls of those who perished in the attack, and of those who lived to fight on and have now been gathered to the Lord.

Here's a cinematic depiction of some of the action from Tora! Tora! Tora!

My father (a WWII fighter pilot, who was stationed at Hickam in 1939 [before he got his wings]) took us boys to see that movie. He lost at least one classmate during the Japanese attack.

Wow. Imagine what it must have been like in the years leading up to the attack; a sword hanging over paradise, and nobody really knew (or didn't know for sure; a lot of folks must have suspected what was coming, in a general way).

God bless him. It must have been hard for him to watch that movie...and the questions you boys had afterwards.

God bless all.

My Dad was stationed at Pearl Harbor in the '60s. We went on the Navy's Harbor tours several times, especially when mainland relatives visited.
