Well, this Southern man sure don't need him around, anyhow

Spotify calls Neil Young's bluff.

Guitarist Leo Kottke, speaking of his own voice, once wrote that it sounded "like geese farts on a muggy day". I don't recollect ever hearing Kottke's voice, but the description certainly fits Neil Young.

  1. What kind of world are we living in, where Neil Young is no longer the undisputed voice of scientific authority?

    1. The kind of world where a dwarf (Peter Dinklage) can send Disney's live action Snow White and The Seven Dwarves film back to the racing board.

  2. Kottke said that? He's very self-deprecating, his talent speaks for itself - he has a strong following in Australia since the 1970s. He has an attractive rich deep voice and his guitar playing is mesmerising. I used to collect his lps, 'Ice Water' was a favourite, also his version of '8 Miles High' sounds like a whole new song. I'll listen to him over Young any day.

Neil Young's voice sounds like a sqeaky door hinge or a cat in the alley. I hope he learned a lesson from this.

  3. If Neil Young had any smarts, he'd just do what other old rockers have done, go home to his millions, and drink himself to death.

  4. The puppy blender linked to Altouse over this, one of her commenters wrote, "Old man yells at cloud server!"

    Made me laugh.

  6. Bruce: He did, indeed. I've only heard a few instrumental pieces by Kottke, and no vocal work, but he certainly is an outstanding acoustic guitar player. I was just checking out a couple of tunes on YouTube, and I saw a video of a live performance of Kottke playing "Little Martha", which was one of my favorite recordings by the Allman Bros.

V: "Old man yells at cloud server!"

    Now, that's funny, right there!
