Imagine having to rob the bank to get your money out

the canadian government electronically locked the financial accounts of people associated with the trucker covid protest, easy as flipping a switch. I wonder when the accounts of Trump supporters will be locked, because they're a threat to democrat rule.
tom: that's exactly the kind of thing I'm worried about. There are definitely scenarios, such as the one you mention in Canada, where customers can, and have been, locked out of their accounts because of their political beliefs.
This is why I hoard a certain amount of cash. My parents and my in-laws were Depression-era kids, and as an added example, my mother couldn't access their joint account for six weeks after my father died.
Smart move, Rebecca. My parents (and grandparents!) all came through the Depression, and they were much the same way.
These days, with so many financial transactions being electronic, and the INTERNET being vulnerable to failure for a HUGE number of reasons (aside from the political threat), keeping cash on hand is a good idea.

If they start locking our accounts because we're "terrorists", then I suppose we would need to accept our destiny and become real terrorists.
And the number one thing on the terrorist's to-do list, is get rid of their enemy.
