Your proposal is acceptable

"Keith Chatinover, a Democrat Duke County commissioner, told MVTimes in October 2021, 'I would love Martha’s Vineyard to become a haven for new immigrants to this country...'"

I guess Governor DeSantis took your virtue signaling seriously, Keith. Shouldn't he have? You weren't just blowing smoke, were you? I'd be so disappointed - and shocked - to find out you weren't being sincere.

Update  Diversity for me, but not for thee: "Just as quickly as they arrived, the Martha's Vineyard immigrants have been politely kicked off the island by the inclusive-and-tolerant rich white liberals".

Update II  Apparently, the good folks of Martha's Vineyard are just employing the Newsom Gambit: "Gavin Newsom Shipped Homeless People Out of San Francisco With ‘One-Way Tickets’".

  1. Somebody over at Ace of Spades pointed out that Martha's Vineyard has a permanent population of 17,000. During the summer it rises to 200,000.

So I call BS on the claim that they have nowhere to put these new arrivals.

  2. Barry and Big Mike have a huge house that ought to hold a dozen or so, easy. I'm astonished - astonished, I say! - that they have not offered some of these weary travelers a place under their ample roof.

I wonder what would happen if it were a busload of Hollywood celebrities that got stranded on their fair island?

  4. I hope DeSantis won't stop with just one busload, because you can never have just one.
