You're invited!

To the end of Western civilization. The always sensible and level-headed Victor Davis Hanson: "The Thinnest Veneer of Civilization".

We talk grandly about the globalized Great Reset. We blindly accept the faddish New Green Deal. We virtue signal about defunding the police. We merely shrug at open borders. And we brag about banning fertilizers and pesticides, outlawing the internal combustion engine, and discounting Armageddon in the nuclear age—as if on autopilot we have already reached utopia.
But meanwhile Westerners are systematically destroying the very elements of our civilization that permitted such fantasies in the first place.

If there's one thing you can always count on, it's the insane tendency of people to ruin a good thing.

Tell me if you've heard this before: There are a lot of people working to create a world they won't like when it arrives.

"Civilization is fragile. It hinges on ensuring the stuff of life."

Yup. As one gentleman said back in 1896:

“There are only nine meals between mankind and anarchy”.

People have had things too good, IMHO. Something like the "Universe 25" experiment, although comparing mice to humans is not a good analogy.

However, I think it's fair to say that the reliability of our civilization has lulled many into ignorance and complacency, where they live in a bubble where facts are bad and FEELZ are good.

And when those idiots are in charge (as they are now), God help us all.

I've always believed that a free society, while it leads to the creation of a high quality of life, also leads to so much abundance that it can afford, and is willing to tolerate, an increasingly large class of parasites - from pseudo-intellectuals that drum up grievance fantasies and new mutations of socialism, to the vilest of god-players who think biology is an artificial construct, to self-anointed elitists who conjure up an endless series of alarms and crises (climate change, anyone?) in order to gain power. When society shifts from merely tolerating these vermin, to letting them take over our government, our culture, and our economic systems (through the apathy or cowardice or laziness of the populace, and the collapse of genuine leadership), then it's hard to argue that the end is not near. Our patriotism is in danger of turning into an impotent wistfulness for the glorious nation that is now rapidly disappearing, and mourning the corpse of the greatest political experiment in history is no basis for getting our country back. Restoring America and the authority of our constitution requires that a spark of nobility and courage and commitment still exist, in such numbers of people that the dreadful insanity that is now washing over us be shaken off.

I have a feeling that there's going to be a Great Reset after this winter (which promises to be a hard one), and it's not going to be the reset the globalist elitists thought they wanted.
