Mark Zuckerberg attempts to build his own Tower of Babel

"Mark Zuckerberg Wants to Rule the World and He's Getting Closer Than You Think".

It's funny, in a definitely non-ha-ha way, how masses of people who scoff at the idea of God will nonetheless abandon themselves to the will of some screwy rich guy who thinks reality has become passé.

  1. Right. And who is going to produce the products the DoorDash drone delivers to your VR pod, citizen?

  2. Robots, of course. And another robot to place them in the DoorDash drone. And more robots to make the pods in which you and millions of others are permanently sealed and which supply all of your nutrition and bodily needs, and which gather the energy your body creates to power everything, while your mind exists in a metaverse reality.

Hey, that would make a great idea for a movie!

  3. Zuckie will need much more infrastructure, more RELIABLE infrastructure, for his Metaverse to take off. Granted, Uncle Sugar is working to expand INTERNET access, but that sort of "VR" interaction is going to need serious bandwidth. And I expect that wireless access just ain't gonna cut it as things stand.

Maybe the boffins can cram more data into the current systems, but the infrastructure still needs to be there. And there's only so much electromagnetic spectrum. Hell, local cell phone systems get overloaded during baseball games!

Not that the Metaverse can't happen, but if it does, it's going to be limited to "islands" where that access is available. And that won't be the entire world. Probably for major urban areas.

So ... ... I don't see this happening in Zuckie's lifetime, not for the world, maybe in a generation or so. At least.

  4. Not that I'll ever know from personal experience, but I've heard Zuck's Metaverse is pretty shoddy and boring, so far.
