ReplyDeleteThis is a great piece. As with most serious music, you need to listen to it multiple times and let it sink in. Stravinsky wrote it in 1930 soon after he had gone back to the Russian Orthodox church, although this work has a Latin text.
ReplyDeleteStravinsky is one of my favorite composers. I recollect hearing a selection from The Rite of Spring when I was a kid; even then, I could tell he was a genius, far ahead of his time - perhaps the father of a new time.
