Here's something via those harmonizing hombres from Chile, Los Huasos Quincheros, singing "Viejo Pregón".

"There are countless horrible things happening all over the world and horrible people prospering, but we must never allow them to disturb our equanimity or deflect us from our sacred duty to sabotage and annoy them whenever possible." -Auberon Waugh
I heard a couple of Linda Ronstadt's Mexican songs recently for the first time. Wow, totally knocked out, such a voice, such command of the song. She can't sing any more, but her last decades of recordings just got better and better.
ReplyDeleteThat was some sweet harmonizing there.
ReplyDeleteBruce: I think she caught a fair amount of grief at the time she sang the Mexican songs; an early manifestation of the bogus doctrine of "cultural appropriation". Particularly bogus, in her case, since, on her father's side, she was descended from German immigrants to Mexico.
ReplyDeleteRebecca: They're kind of like a South American version of the Sons of the Pioneers.
What's going on in Chile? Last I heard (here) some Marxist had taken the checkered flag? Or do I misremember?
ReplyDeleteNo, you remember correctly. Some young Marxist with, as I recollect, little if any experience in politics won the presidential election. On the upside, his attempt to ram through the most left-wing constitution in history failed completely in a national plebiscite.
