We will never ever forget.

May the memory of the victims be a blessing.

So, in reality, I'm more Jewish than, say, Chuck Schumer.
Besides stabbing Israel in the back, today you showed what a coward you are. LET ME TELL YOU THIS @SenSchumer IF YOU HAD SHOWED UP TODAY, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A DAY YOU & I WOULD NEVER FORGET! pic.twitter.com/woKl7Chyzb

Schumer, like many if not most progressive Jews, holds Judaism as a social and cultural marker, not as a religious faith. Besides, religious faith? What are we, cavemen? Or MAGA voters?
ReplyDeleteHur hur hur.
He's a politician first, and everything else, including a human being, a distant second. Power by any means necessary is his one and only principle, the one moral tenet he holds, and the sole yardstick by which to judge his behavior. Jews, Schmoos, he'll kick them all into the furnace as he tearfully grasps his prayer shawl and piously weeps for justice.
That's all true, but I really have trouble wrapping my head around the idea of power lust. I guess because power over others doesn't appeal to me, I have trouble seeing how other people might find it attractive; nonetheless, I do clearly recognize it (how can one not, especially given the many historical precedents?)
ReplyDeleteAnd ultimately, there's only one good response to such people.
These are indeed dark days.
ReplyDeleteI long to see the day when somebody walks up to Schumer and slaps those schoolmarm glasses off his nose. Except that he probably glues them on that way since he's never without them.
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping Israel's decision to pull out of Gaza is just a head fake. It's a tactic with a long history, going back at least to the Trojan war. But I expect to be disappointed.
