Ok, who's keeping an eye on this?

  1. I'm sure our fine betters are paying attention.

  2. Well, the example of the death of HAL 9000 should be available, if needed. Just make sure the instruction video doesn't mysteriously disappear.

BTW, I just got to see my second, and last, total eclipse of the sun today. An amazing experience if you have any appreciation of celestial events. Looking through binoculars, I could see several red beacon-like lights along the edge of the sun. Solar flares? I'm not sure, but it was....beautiful, for sure. Thousands of vehicles have passed my house today, going and coming.

  3. I witnessed the eclipse from my back patio, or at least the effects of it. I couldn’t look at it directly because I didn’t have the equipment, but even though I’m located on the edge of the path, it got very dark here, much darker than I thought it would, almost night.

  4. I worry about AI a little, mostly because of the Terminator movies; toss out the time travel bits and you're still left with human stupidity, cruelty and ambition which are the obvious and necessary reasons for the AI to decide humanity was a bad idea worthy of extinction.

If the military put enough AI in weapons and control systems and they can pick their own targets it's fun and games time.
