Hyperventilating one's way through the collapse of the progressive ascendancy

Roger Kimball - "The Aftermath: Trump’s Victory Sparks Media Outrage and National Introspection".

The actual results of the election—the biggest victory since Reagan’s blowout in 1984—seem to have precipitated the “national mental health crisis” that Mark Halperin forecast in October. As James Piereson has noted, the response of many commentators has been to blame the voters. How could they vote for a man they had identified as evil, an incipient dictator, a fascist, the reincarnation of Hitler who would trample on the Constitution, etc.?

  2. There may be a delayed effect as many of the Harris supporters have not yet clicked that Trump's win was such a landslide. They still think it was 'close' and are just waiting for the result to be challenged or something. Low-information voters - that's why they supported Harris in the first place.

  3. Right now they're furious at George Clooney because... well, they're not thinking straight.

One, they blame him for forcing Biden to step down with his NYT op-ed. Okay, Biden was already doing a slo-mo crash and burn. Had he stayed in the defeat would have been even more lopsided.

Two, if they really think all it took was Clooney speaking up, they grossly overestimate the influence of the Diddy Guest List. The real work to shove Biden aside was going on behind the scenes, somebody just called George asking him to float a trial balloon to set the stage.

Harris was never anything other than a very bad candidate. But the pathetic reality is those knuckleheads had painted themselves into a corner so she was the least bad alternative they had.

Probably because they recognized all those things as lies, and the commentators as liars. It's that simple, I think.
